Getting to Oviedo

Well, I have arrived in Spain.  The city of Oviedo is much bigger than I expected.  I guess I should have figured that since it is the capital of Asturias.  Anyway, I want to tell you a little bit about my trip over to Spain.  It started off pretty well with a flight to Denver.  But when Sheila and I got on our flight to Denver, it ended up being twenty minutes late.  We had a short connection in DC, so we were worried that we would miss the flight to Madrid.  But Sheila ran as fast as she could to the gate and got there just in time so that we could board.

Everything worked out, y we arrived in Oviedo two hours before we expected.  My host mother, Demetria, came to get me and brought me to my new house.  Then she brought me to a church festival.  I couldn’t believe how many people were there.  I couldn’t even walk through all of the people.  But it was still very fun!  There were lots of birds and other animals, artisans, food, and music.  I was way tired by the time we walked through all the tents, so I went straight to bed.  It was definitely a good first day in Oviedo!
