Stepping Toward the Future

Today feels weird because it's the first day in a long time that I've had a day off in the middle of the week that I have had off of work, and school, and all that jazz.  My grades aren't all posted, so I guess I'll put that off until later when I find out.

Let's start off with other school stuff.  I think I've talked to most people about how I want to try to get more involved with stuff on campus.  Well, I decided that I really wanted to get back to doing more service and get involved with the Bennion Center, and I loved Costa Rica so much that I figured I'd apply for director of that program.  I wrote my personal statement and filled out the application to turn it in on April 1.  While I was waiting to have my interview, I heard about the opportunity to be Associate Director for the Union Programming Council, which is something I've sort of been interested in since freshman orientation.  I jumped on that and applied for it, last minute so I didn't think I'd get it.  I had my interview for that the same week, and then a couple days later found out that I made the UPC Community Service Board, which was pretty exciting.  Anyways, I finally had my interview for the Costa Rica program yesterday.  Afterward, I started thinking about it and with UPC and school, and if I want to try to work, there's no way I'll have time for it.  So I went in and talked to Gina and explained that to her, and she was totally cool with it, so that's good.  I have an interview next week for the Bend In The River program, so hopefully that one will work out.

Next up, I got another job a couple weeks ago at Baskin Robbins.  I've worked there twice in the past, so I thought it would be good for me to do over the summer so I could get some extra hours and I wouldn't have to retrain anything really.  So, I did the 31¢ Scoop Night to help out because they'd obviously be busy.  Then we pretty much said we'd just figure out a work schedule and stuff once I was done with school.  Well, Katie, who more or less got me the job, informed me on Sunday that she drove by the store and it was empty, thereby closed.  I guess that means I don't have a job there anymore......

But..... I think that might actually be for the best.  On Saturday, we had a UPC barbecue on campus.  I was talking with Bryan just about school and stuff.  Well, he and Bridger are moving in together any time now, and they invited me to move in with them also.  So I went down to Salt Lake on Sunday to check it out.  Nothing is official yet or anything, but I am planning on moving down next month!  Pretty excited for that!!  So, Baskin Robbins probably would have just made it a little more difficult.

It'll be way nice to live in Salt Lake so close to school, but now I just need to figure out what to do about work.  I'm considering staying at America First but finding one down in Salt Lake, but I'll just have to figure it out when that time comes I guess.
